well, considering the fact that i am no using a completely different computer, running a completely different version of kubuntu (10.04), the functionality is back, and i tried running "sudo dpgk-reconfigure xserver-xorg" and got "sudo: dpgk-reconfigure: command not found" as a response, i would say that this is "fix released" but since the command that i originally wrote about (sudo dpgk-reconfigure xserver-xorg) still doesn't work, i don't know what to say... sorry...
