Is there any more information that you would like me to gather to get this bug squashed? I'm hoping to see it fixed relatively soon, as it is quite frustrating. Thanks!
** Tags added: acpi kernel ** Tags removed: long purple screen ** Summary changed: - Ubuntu just hangs up 2:45 seconds after system selection + System hangs for approximately 85 seconds during bootup ** Description changed: 1. Install fresh ubuntu or upgrade 10.04 (it's installed on my 2nd hard drive) 2. Select 2nd hard drive as bootable in BIOS 3. Select OS to boot (in my case there are Win7 and Ubuntu) - Ubuntu 4. Violet background appears and hangs 2:45+ seconds then activity from my hard disk appears and system boots and works correctly. Ubuntu 10.04 boots correctly. What log shoult I attach and where I can find it? Thank you! + + MORE INFO: + This bug does *NOT* occur on Ubuntu 10.10. It occurs on Ubuntu 11.04. During bootup, the system hangs for approximately 85 seconds. You can see this in the dmesg log I've attached to Comment #2. This behavior can be stopped by adding "acpi=off nolapic" to the kernel command line, or disabling "ACPI APIC Support" in my BIOS. Both options are *NOT* viable, because they remove support for power management, as well as any more than 1 (one) CPU core. This is a regression from kernel 2.6.35, present in Ubuntu 10.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749367 Title: System hangs for approximately 85 seconds during bootup -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
