Thanks EffE, assuming both alsa-infos were taken with headphones plugged in, I do notice a difference in the way the speaker pin is muted - via Amp-Out mute in the auto model and via Pin-ctl in the toshiba model. Can you verify that this is what's causing the hiss?
Download snd-hda-tools from ppa:diwic/ppa, then start "sudo hda_analyzer" and go to node 0x14, could you try checking and unchecking the boxes "EAPD", "Mute" and "OUT" and see which one(s) that have an effect on the hiss? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/480929 Title: [Dell Mini 9]Audio hiss coming from netbook speakers when using headphones -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
