Wow, somebody's actually having a look at this bug! I'm amazed! I agree with Luca and the others who pointed out the upgrade issue. I don't know if any of you guys is aware of the inherent limitations in sysklogd - e.g. the ugly deadlocks one might experience when running BIND compiled from source on a system with sysklogd (or the features other logging packages bring). But I guess this is suitable material for the 'syslog-improvements' spec.
