I was updating from version 8.04 which I presumed would give me the newer
version.  I don't want to download a new distro as I am worried that a new
installation will fry my data when/if hard drives are reformatted.    I
don't have enough off line storage to back up my data completely either.

My apologies if this sounds a bit dumb, but my son did the setup and I am
just now following in his footsteps as he is on the other side of the world
