I've seen it too. Running natty-desktop-amd64.iso zsynced 2011-04-05 (06 seems only available for Mac) in Virtual Box or from USB on Thinkpad 510 the Try Ubuntu option gives a blank screen. Install runs in the VBox but produces a very uninformative error (see attached). On reboot in VBox I only get a black screen.
I think this is the same problem. Since I don't have ubuntu running I can't get to syslog to look for more information.
