** Description changed:

  On Natty Alpha 3 (with daily updates), regular
  applications/places/system menu is missing in Classic Desktop (a choosed
  in GDM/login manager), while it is still possible to add it to the upper
  panel by right clicking on it (trash can is also missing in the lower
  bar, but that's another bug obviously).  See screenshot attached.
  
  IMHO Classic desktop should as near as possible as previous/regular
  Ubuntu desktop.  Applications/places/system menu is central to this, so
  it's not sufficient to make it available as an option.  It should be
  there by default.

+ 1.  Right click on the current main menu (the logo with down arrow) and 
select 'Remove from Panel'
+ 2.  Right click on a blank area of the panel bar, select 'Add to Panel...' 
and add 'Menu Bar'
+ 3.  Drag the menu bar into place and then right click and select 'Lock to 
Panel'
