Same problem here. It only occurs when a contact changes status. I could reproduce it by running pidgin with another account in parallel. When a MSN contact goes from online to offline, or from offline to online, empathy segfaults. When the MSN contact changes to another status (away, busy) empathy does not segfault. I didn't test with other account than MSN.
