The problem is that scrolling in gwibber is not continuous, it scrolls
in discrete steps such that the first message within view is exactly at
the top of the message area. I personally find it odd to use, as it
behaves differently from every other application, but the behaviour
described in the bug report is indeed a bug. Gwibber should switch to
continuous scrolling (which I believe it had at some point, possibly in
lucid?).
