Since the version that I am packaging is somewhat old, I think that some upgrade may be able to fix this *if* the generation of the UUID is incorporated in Apple's diskdev_cmds package (which I rename to create hfsprogs for Linux). Failing that, I will have to study how Apple implements the UUID thing and provide a wrapper for that. I do hope that the 1st option actually provides us with a fix without something flaky.
