This is emmited by a later version of the patch attached above to this
bug, the one recommended by ALPS for this hardware.  This is expected to
fix the scrolling issues, but in this mode it will not be seen as a
touchpad (it is behaving as a clever mouse) and so userspace will not
offer touchpad options for it.
