The gist of my latest post there is that upgrading to kernel 2.6.35-27-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 22 20:25:46 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux ( Ubuntu 10.10) seems to have fixed my freezing issue. Since there are several different freeze conditions posted in this thread, you might want to check out the other bug report and see if the symptoms exactly match yours.
