I'm having the same problem. I updated via synaptic to -14. It told me
to reboot, so I did, but it froze after passing grub. I can still boot
in -12, and I don't seem to have any problems with my hard drive.
I'm running an Asus A8N-SLI deluxe motherboard with a single seagate 160
sata drive.
