Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-image-generic

I have 2 NVIDIA Tesla C1060 video cards installed. Although they are
called 'video cards', there is no video output on the cards. Actually,
they are used for GPGPU, General-Purpose computation on Graphics
Processing Units, or for computation just like CPUs. Since it seems that
Ubuntu doesn't detect and install drivers for such cards properly, I
installed drivers myself. Drivers are downloaded from
http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_develop.html

Everytime when linux kernel (packages linux-image-generic*, linux-
headers*) upgrades, my driver installation is removed and I have to
reinstall the driver. It seems the whole driver directory
/proc/driver/nvidia/ was removed during kernel upgrade.

Although it may not look like a real bug, I hope Ubuntu have better
compatibility for GPGPU hardwares. Anyway, GPGPU is becoming popular
very rapidly.
