I am having the same problem on a Samsung X20 LVM 1730 V laptop. In addition, I was able to simulate a middle-click by hitting the touchpad with two fingers and a right-click by hitting it with three fingers under 6.06.1 LTS "dapper drake". This too does not work with the 7.04 beta. (Both these things worked on my friend's Dell laptop, however.)
