Public bug reported: Binary package hint: digikam
Digikam is pretty slow when indexing jpeg2000 files. Much slower than alternative software and seemingly uses more memory. It crashes repeatedly, not on the same file though. Have received segmentation fault errors among others. One suggestion for developers. Since JPEG2000 support progressive decoding (layers), if stored that way, preview images are usually not necessary. Just pull out the information need for the actual resolution. I.e., for preview maybe a few kb, fullscreen 50-100kb etc. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: digikam 2:1.4.0-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-27.47-generic 2.6.35.11 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-27-generic x86_64 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun Feb 20 11:43:59 2011 ProcEnviron: LANG=sv_SE.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: digikam ** Affects: digikam (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug maverick -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/722100 Title: digikam crash when indexing/creating thumbnails of jpeg2000 files -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
