It is definitly a ubuntu-desktop bug, can we relocate it? In Windows ctrl+alt+del comes up with a system monitor, no matter how stressed the system is, and you can shutdown programs from there. The reason, I think, is that the system monitor is always in memory and always have the highest priority.
In OS X I have found this report, that solves some of the problem: http://swik.net/GNOME/Planet+GNOME/Ronald+Bultje:+OOM+killer+feature+in+OS+X/2w7t OS X comes up with a dialog when you are low on memory, you can then choose to close the offending program. -- Force shutdown of programs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/3240 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
