Sorry, that came out a bit snitty!

But yeah, I think this is a kernel modesetting issue.  It's likely it'll
just sort itself out magically by updating to a newer kernel.  If it
doesn't, then git bisection is probably going to be the way to go.  Kind
of a PITA, but maybe the kernel guys can offer more help than me in this
case.
