My microphone doesn't work, too. I've just installed Kubuntu 6.10 i386 on a vaio vgn-sz4mn, and I made immediately a complete update, so it doesn't seem a problem related to obsolete drivers.
more precisely, the problem is that the internal microphone is apparently not detected. neither alsamixer nor kmix show it. the output works fine, but there is no trace of any capture device anywhere hope you can help me - lack of skype is forcing me to use Vista more frequently than I'd like to do.
