I have similar issue with the sound menu. Some people consider it appropriate for a click on a player title to bring that player to your current desktop. While others like above think is should stay where you are.
Considering the behaviour of the player that the spec for the sound menu encourages (the player should be minimised when not in direct use), I would choose option one. But for the messaging is their a different user journey encouraged ?
