Is this fixable/applicable at all?

According to the Nouveau project website
(http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/) 3D support is hardly there at the
moment, so it looks like it will take some time for them to implement
it. Meanwhile, the nv driver was never really meant for DRI or truly
accellerated graphics. It's simply not designed to do that, that's why
project Nouveau was started in the first place. For these reasons, I am
compelled to set the status of this bug to "Rejected". Please feel free
to reverse this change if you feel like there's a strong reason to
compell the Xorg developers to implement DRI, although in my personal
opinion, it would probably be better to focus on Nouveau.

My suggestions:
a) Get the binary nVidia driver if you absolutely need efficient/proper
hardware 3D accelleration. It's far from being rock solid, but it certainly
outperforms the nv driver.
b) If you feel compelled about requesting 3D/DRI support in nv, I suggest
staring here: http://wiki.x.org/wiki/nv

Just my $0.02...
