I agree that by using UUIDs the system is stable.  Perhaps this should
be classified a documentation bug.  A comment at the top of the
/etc/fstab file would suffice to warn the user that unexpected results
could occur when using the more traditional /dev/sdX designations.
While the installer puts in UUIDs for the drives configured during
installation (and this is a good tip off to the user), there are many
1000's of people who will use the old style when adding a disk to the
system (as I did).  I guess so long as this doesn't result in data loss,
there would be little problem, but I'm not sure it won't.  The messages
that printed out when my system booted and the mounting failed were
pretty scary (since I had some good data on the drive in question).
