i still have this problem on my Sony VPCF12M1E , actually i have it on some linux distributions , fedora ubuntu suse debian (all current releases, havent tried the others). About ubuntu i tried both 10.04lts and 10.10.
The situation is that the screen either works at full brightness or doesnt work at all, because when decreasing it, the screen becomes black.
