Public bug reported: When the volume on a HP dv2000 laptop is decreased to zero either by the volume applet or especially with the media keys, the system sometimes ends up in a state, where alsamixer states that the master volume level is at zero but not muted, whereas the volume applet thinks the channel is muted. From this state the volume can no longer be controlled with the media keys on the laptop.
After increasing the volume from either alsamixer or the volume applet the volume controlling media keys function normally again. Muting with the media keys work and when the volume is at zero and both alsamixer and the volume applet report the channels muted, the volume can be brought back with the media keys, I did not experience this behavior with edgy and a self compiled alsa driver (1.1.14rc3) on the same laptop. The sound card on the laptop is a hda intel conexant CX200551 (Waikiki) and the OS is Feisty Beta with packages updated on april 11 (same problem before update). I'm not sure whether this is caused by alsa or the applet (or something completely diiferent). ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- volume control unable to increase volume from zero with media keys on HP dv2000 with feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/105633 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
