I'm having the same problem in 10.10 on an AMD-64 system. texlive is broken. I tried uninstalling every package it complained about started from scratch several times. It appears you cannot have texlive-base texlive-latex-base and tex-common coexisting which makes it a pretty limited tex system. If you google those three packages you'll turn up dozens of long discussions people are having trying to resolve this issue and so far no one has succeeded.
