Public bug reported: We're running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bit on several servers. Everytime a server boots, it is not reachable over the network. Even one cannot send out a successfull ping from this server.
When you issue a "ifconfig" all devices are up and configured correctly as defined in /etc/network/interfaces. We're using "static" configuration here. As soon as we issue "/etc/init.d/networking restart" everything works. Our current workarround is to do so by adding "/etc/init.d/networking restart" to /etc/rc.local , but this can't be the way to go. We also use several Ubuntu 8.04 LTS 64 Bit systems. It never happened in this, so we assume this might have something to do with the upstart implementation. Currently, we've run out of ideas to investigate this further. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/716429 Title: Networking not automatically available after reboot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
