In 2.6.14 the ability to suspend one time has returned. (trying to suspend a second time fails, which was the norm for me with Dapper)
However, this week I've received two updates to restricted kernel modules and I just tried to suspend and now the computer freezes up entirely when I try to suspend to ram.
