I have had this happend a few times every year for more than 2 years. With 3 different computers (all laptops, mostly been using this kind of computers just...). And with older Ubuntu versions.
Got the error yesterday again, and remember having it a few days back for about 2 times. Just after I got Ubuntu 10.10 installed. I'm quite sure I have tried Alt+tab, but that does nothing.. but how could that be. Considering that files on the Desktop get selected when search/selecting files by pressing keys. So I tried to get the left mouse click working again. [Ctrl+Alt+F1], And I could not find anything else to test then to: [rmmod psmouse]. And it solved it this time (first time tried), left mouse click working ok again. (after [c...+a...+f7]). But the really strange thing is that the keyboard stopped working for a few seconds after switching back to virtual terminal 1 (F1). I feel quite sure about this keyboard error. It's a PS/2 keyboard I think. The mouse used is a USB mouse, also tested with another USB mouse with this last time (so far). So no faulty mouse. But I don't remember testing if the touchpad ~mouse buttons~ where working. Maybe I have not tested them... while affected by this bug. Could this somehow be related to the i8042. I'm quite sure my laptop (Lenovo Z560) needs to be blacklisted for this i8042.nomux. Erratic mouse cursor movement with touchpad sometimes. When getting this bug I have not been used this option. But are now. I don't know for these laptops. They could have been blacklisted in kernel or not. Maybe for Lenovo (Y500 etc). Seems to be totally unusable without this kernel option. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=41200 see this also: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/41301/comments/120. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/673201 Title: mouse unresponsive: left click often refuses to work -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
