Not sure if it's related, but 13-14 broke me as well. I get fsck giving me some really scary bad news about dropping into a root shell or ctl-d to continue..... either way nothing works, fsck'ing fails miserably, and .... well I got really worried over 500GB of movies and music that seemed unrecoverable (No I don't see it feasible to back up this 'jumbo' content, maybe I should.....I took alot of time to well....)
Anyway, since I'm using a USB keyboard it's really a PITA to boot a diff kernel as I can't seem to get it working for the BIOS/GRUB (I know there's a setting in the BIOS, but native inbuilt USB kills my devices in ubuntu (Filed as Bug #77358, sure it's a mobo issue) so my keyboard is in a PCI USB card.... Short story... trying 13 again worked, fsck saw dirty stuff and fixed it no prob.... I boot off a SATA and have two reg ATA drives for storage if this helps.... Since errors are on sdb, sdc, I suspect that funky fake sata kernel option was checked in 14 and broke stuff...
