To make clear why this is annoying: applications like mplayer (which is used as media player by other applications like Anki) fail to reproduce gapless (or almost gapless) from their playlists.
Anki (flashcard learning program) tends to play voice snippets for short audio in a row, e.g. 3 files x1sec. Instead of the speaker saying “Hint. Question? Answer.” it’s more like “Hint. ------------ Question? ----------- Answer.” taking 7 seconds in total. As a workaround I stop pulseaudio before using Anki (with respawn=off). -- When I use mplayer individually, I exploit a bug to skip “drain-less” forward in the playlist... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/660567 Title: pa_simple_drain() takes over 2 seconds to complete! -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
