When Dapper gets installed, default sources are set so that if you do apt-get install xchat, it actually installs xchat-gnome since it's in main and xchat is in universe. For Kubuntu, xchat should be in main and xchat-gnome should be in universe. This of course should be the opposite for Ubuntu so that xchat-gnome is in main and xchat is in universe.
I've had many users ask me why with the default sources for Kubuntu why xchat-gnome gets installed when they try to install xchat. It's confusing since the two apps are quite a bit different in a lot of ways. -- [WishList] Xchat default in Kubuntu instead of Xchat-gnome https://launchpad.net/bugs/56136 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
