Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org
Zotero uses Open Office Writer's ReferenceMarks to store and display in- text citations. When the mouse hovers over a citation, the field code of the ReferenceMark is shown in a tooltip. For a single citation, this text takes up the entire width of the screen; for a few citations (about 7), the field code text makes the tooltip long enough to freak out Compiz and cause the display to fall back to Metacity (bug #567025, bug #667336). So, in the best case the field code data is distracting and uninformative for users and shouldn't be displayed. In the worst case, it causes buggy behaviour due to other software's not unreasonable expectation that a tooltip should fit on the screen. Why are field codes of ReferenceMarks shown on screen as tooltips? It seems that in this case there is no justification that they should be displayed.
