Can you try one of the daily live CD images, to see if this is still a problem in the current build? The xubuntu images can be found here: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily-live/current/
Instead of clicking on the Install icon, please run the installer using the --debug option (`ubiquity --debug` in a console) and attach /var/log/installer/debug and /var/log/syslog to this bug report.
