Howdy, Perhaps I should describe my partition layout. I have two 37 GB drives. The first drive has 4 primary partitions[1) .5 GB ext2 with /boot, 2) 9 GB JFS with /usr, 3) .5GB encrypted swap, 4) remainder to LVM] The second drive has 2 primary partitions[1) .5gb encrypted swap, 2) remainder to LVM] The LVM is put into 1 volume group and then into 1 logical volume, which is a btrfs /(root) filesystem.
I started the procedure at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1599293 to try to recover, but don't see what I expect. At the grub rescue, I typed ls "(hd0,msdos1)/" and I see what look like kernel files and there is no grub directory.. I have not figured out how to do a directory of my / filesystem there, since it is in a LVM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/705755 Title: Natty Testing--Alternate OEM Install, grub-pc/grub2 failed to install -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
