Hmm something else is going on for me then. When I booted with the 2.6.32 kernel I didn't have any trouble with suspend/resume:
uname -srvmo Linux 2.6.32-27-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 2 00:51:09 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux I have a Core i7, Nvidia NVS 3100 with 1440x900 panel.
