Hello Sam, you will have to install the kernel source code first - see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile for more details. After you have edited the file as described above and rebuilt the kernel, you will get a new hid-ntrig.ko in linux-2.6.35/drivers/hid. Then, you can replace the one you described with the new one. Multitouch works, too.
