Hi Fabrice, thanks for asking! Syncing it should be fine - I'll upload merkaartor to unstable after the release of Squeeze in ~2 weeks. And I'll check back with upstream if there are any patches which should go into 0.17 - but for now its fine to use the version from experimental. if you need to patch something (again) to make it build on Ubuntu please let me know and I'll fix it in Debian.
