I don't understand where is the problem on unmuting the audio when the user changes the volume and the audio is muted (this not only happens on MacOS X, but also on YouTube and in many other multi-media piayer, you could argue this is a standard behaviour). How many times happens that you unmute a sound and it's too loud and how many times it happens that is not? How long does it take to turn down a too loud volume?
