I am having the same issue and also have an OEM locked down bios. There
is no option to change the spectrum spread. What is 64bit grub/boot
process doing differently then 32 bit? The fact that the drive is
recognized just fine in 32bit and not 64bit points to a distro issue and
not a bios one.
