I'm sorry, is it really the "fix" for that? nm-applet never needed root
to run, why would it need now? And if indeed needs root (which find
highly unlikely), then I'll be forced to type my password everytime I
logon just to have the applet show up? Or worse, add an sudoers
exception just for that case? That doesn't sound like a fix, sounds like
a kludgy workaround.
