Binary package hint: grep

Using 10.10 on Dell-Inspiron 1501. Computer randomly hangs or becomes
unbearably slow. Can be idle on desktop or more often while in Google
Chromium, Pulseaudio crashed due to the cause. Can very slowly switch to
tty and open top, and once I do I see egrep using large amounts of cpu
and ram, maxing them out. Killing egrep makes the computer smoothly
responsive again, but this happens at least a couple times a day and
gets quite annoying.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10
Package: grep 2.6.3-3
Ubuntu 2.6.37-020637rc2-generic
