I just completed testing upstream kernel linux- image-2.6.38-020638rc1-generic_2.6.38-020638rc1.201101192228_i386.deb, which performs worse than 2.6.35-24-generic with regards to Test Case SNR-003 (Hibernate). First, when the system rebooted after installing the new upstream kernel, I got "/proc/device-tree: can't find root", then the machine booted normally. I've included some additional notes from dmesg for when this happened in the boot process.
When I went into Hibernate the first time, I got the same "ata1: ACPI set timing mode failed", but this time it did not go away until I hit enter. Kernel 2.6.35-24-generic doesn't do this and only displays the message for a couple seconds, then actually goes into Hibernate. The upstream kernel required user input, which should not be needed. Again, coming out of Hibernate, the "ata1: ACPI set timing mode failed" error displays. Additionally, coming out of HIbernate, the machine took longer than expected (more than 1 minute) to come out of HIbernate. Since this has not been fixed, please advise if the 'needs-upstream- testing' tag/text still needs to be removed? I assume not because it hasn't been fixed and needs additional testing, which I can perform. I'm going to do a couple more iterations of the Hibernate test to make sure I get consistent results. #####Dmesg log regarding "/proc/device-tree: can't find root"####### pid_max: default: 32768 minimum: 301 Security Framework initialized AppArmor: AppArmor initialized Mount-cache hash table entries: 512 /proc/device-tree: can't find root Initializing cgroup subsys ns ns_cgroup deprecated: consider using the 'clone_children' flag without the ns_cgroup.
