I have also a cpu family 15, model 3 Intel Pentium 4 3 GHz HT and also get the NX warning message. As I was not sure which proc I really had I searched the Intel site and narrowed it down to the following three models (based on cpu freq, fsb freq and L2 cache size): 530/530J: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27463 530J: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27464 531: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27465
The last two support the XD (NX) bit, but the first doesn't. And as I am really sure I have a socket 478 motherboard I am sure I have the 530/530J processor. So my processor does not have the NX bit, and thus the boot message is not correct. ** Attachment added: "cpuinfo-and-dmidecode.output" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cpu-checker/+bug/596963/+attachment/1800454/+files/cpuinfo-and-dmidecode.output -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/596963 Title: says CPU has NX capabilities but AFAICT it doesn't -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
