Public bug reported:

Realplayer 10, Ubuntu Edgy, Firefox 2.0.0.3

Downloaded realplayer_10.0.7-0.0_i386.deb from site given on ubuntu website /
irc.
sudo dpkg -i realplayer_10.0.7-0.0_i386.deb is executed, and reports no errors.
Realplayer is opened from ubuntu menu and setup is completed.

Initially, trying to play real video in firefox leaves just a grey box where
the media should be. Following ubuntu guide at:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RealplayerInstallationMethods?action=show&redirect=RealPlayerInstallationMethods
Symlinks in firefox plugins directory to libtotem-complex-plugin.* are removed.
(obviously installing realplayer and running the setup should really do this
anyway?)

Now, loading up site with realvideo temporarily shows an embedded
realplayer window. Within approx. 5 seconds, this disappears back to the
grey, and an error appears, informing that realplayer.bin has crashed.

  - Playing .ram file directly using 'open location' in realplayer
window works perfectly

 - In Firefox, Edit>Preferences>Content>Manage, no realmedia filetypes are
listed. I don't know whether they should be, or not, but info. included for
completion.

- about:plugins, after removal of libtotem-complex plugins, shows:
