@Eugenia Did you uninstall ndis wrapper prior to trying fwcutter and the cafuego firmware (removal of nidis wrapper was stressed in tutorials for other distros). A reinstall of network manager anecdotally helped with stability problems on unencrypted networks.
I would be really happy if the patch made it into RC or is offered as a kernel upgrade in the near future.
