Thanks for reporting this bug and making Ubuntu better. Workspaces are available, even if "Install" is chosen on the welcome screen, so this is a valid issue. I was able to reproduce this with a natty daily build from 12th Jan 2011.
** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Invalid => Confirmed ** Description changed: I noticed this while installing a daily ISO of Natty on the 6th of January 2011. (I don't know how to find the version of the installer) While installing Ubuntu in a virtual machine I noticed while trying to switch workspaces on my actual machine that the installer has workspaces. So as to not risk getting the user into a situation where he/she doesn't know how to get back to the first workspace, I think that the workspaces should be removed. Steps to reproduce: - 1. Install Ubuntu, for example on a virtual machine. - 2. Press CTRL+ALT+Right arrow, and you will notice that there are four workspaces. + 1. Boot a computer (or virtual machine) from a Ubuntu Live CD/USB. + 2. On the welcome screen, choose "Install". + 3. Press CTRL+ALT+Right arrow, and you will notice that there are four workspaces. What I expected to happen: Nothing. I didn't expect there to be any workspaces. What happened instead: I switched to a different workspace within the installer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/698065 Title: Ubuntu installer has workspaces -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
