Also just tested with recommended fixes, and the scan functionality does not work.
Tested on 2 systems: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and 10.10. Both also x86_64. Error message after running xsane: "Failed to open device hpaio:/usb/Deskjet_1050_J410_series?seria=CN07M2P3G505HW: Device busy.".
