** Description changed:

On my AS Rock Nettop ION 330 (not the "HT" version which seems to have a
slightly different chipset), there is no sound via HDMI. All channels
are unmuted, HDMI cable and TV are both proven to be working with
another device running Ubuntu. There's no sound in Media player and the
speaker-test command as well as the speaker test in the "Sound" applet
in preferences make no noise, even if the TV's sound is at "Max". The TV
  is a Sony Bravia KDL-32EX402.

This bug also appears in Ubuntu 8.04 (installed), Ubuntu 10.04 (Live
CD), and Ubuntu 10.10 (Live CD), all of them x86_64.
