It seems that you are trying to use beryl over Xgl. Since Feisty's beryl-core 
package doesn't include bery-xgl , this could be related with: 

beryl-xgl missing from beryl and beryl-core (feisty)

Remember that you only need to use beryl-xgl if your xorg driver doesn't
support native rendering or AIGLX (like it happens with the ATI
proprietary driver). If you are using a driver that supports AIGLX -like
the free ati driver with some cards, or nvidia's proprietary one- you
just need to change beryl rendering options using the "advanced" menu in
beryl's tray icon.
