Filed bug #698183 as well, which notes that gnome-control-center->Login should hide users with encrypted home directories from being selected for passwordless automatic login.
** Description changed: - Binary package hint: ubiquity + Counterpart to bug #698183. By default, during install the pre-selected option is "Require my password to log in" , and therefore the "Encrypt my home folder" option is also available. - However when we switch to "Log in automatically" , "Encrypt my home folder" option is again available to select, even though the encrypt option _requires_ user to enter password everytime! + However when we switch to "Log in automatically" , "Encrypt my home folder" option is again available to select, even though the encrypt option _requires_ user to enter password everytime! So what happens is, when we check the encrypt option the the radiocheck automatically switches to the "Require password.." option. Instead, when the user changes the option to "Log in automatically" the encrypt option must be disabled so that it is clearer that the option is available only along with the other "Require password.. " option. (this is similar behavior to other preferences dialogues in GNOME) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: ubiquity (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.37-11.25-generic 2.6.37-rc7 Uname: Linux 2.6.37-11-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Dec 25 18:40:14 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Alpha i386 (20101224) ProcEnviron: - LANGUAGE=en_US:en - PATH=(custom, no user) - LANG=en_US.UTF-8 - LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + LANGUAGE=en_US:en + PATH=(custom, no user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + LC_MESSAGES=en_US.utf8 + SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: ubiquity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/694283 Title: "Encrypt my home folder" should be disabled when "Log in automatically" is selected -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
